Trust
2009
"If we wish, we can also refer to the public artwork 'Trust' from 2009 as a group sculpture. This work was realized within the framework of the Fine Arts Lectorate's tender, this time in Győr, at the exit of the underpass between the train station and the bus station towards the latter. In this case, the sculptures are actually surveillance cameras, and Csaba Horváth placed a whole bunch of them on top of a column. Paradoxically, it is precisely because of their quantity that these cameras become aesthetic objects: we do not pay particular attention to one camera, whereas in the case of a larger group, we have the opportunity to see the otherwise completely uncharacteristic, ordinary cameras actually setting each other in motion. This not only created an interesting sound effect but also drew the attention of passers-by to the observation of the situation in public spaces. We accept this without any particular protest, even though these devices, with their help, make even our private affairs, taking place in the public square, visible to observers and inspectors."
