Last summer, two artists embarked on a research journey to explore the history of Cserhátszentiván Beach in Nógrád County, which was destroyed in 1944. The former beach vanished in the tumultuous stream of history, or, to be more precise, it transformed into an entity that is elusive and, to some extent, a metaphor. This process gave rise to various versions of memory within the village's collective consciousness. A deeper understanding of these memories led Eszter Sipos and Árpád Csaba Horváth to undertake a historical and sociocultural mapping of the village's recent past and present.
The current exhibition presents knowledge, anecdotes, and facts associated with the village and the beach, organized into eight thematic units. Some of these units also touch on broader Central European themes. This intricate reservoir of memories, often interwoven with fiction, comes to life within a virtually displayed topographical system, enveloping the entire exhibition space.
